“Innovation for development” 6th Career Day at INES-Ruhengeri

On this Wednesday 6th December 2017, INES-Ruhengeri organized an Opening Day, Career Day and swearing in ceremonies of students committee. The ceremony starts by a holy mass celebrated by His Lordship Bishop Vincent HAROLIMANA the Legal Representative and Chancellor of INES-Ruhengeri.

After the holy mass all the guests with INES staff visited different stands of exhibition where students from 12 departments and INES BIC (Business Incubation Centre) have presented and explain how they can contribute to the sustainable development of our country through innovations. This exhibition is also an opportunity for students to show the partners, parents, public and private sector how they would be good employees and entrepreneurs by applying skills got at INES-Ruhengeri.

After students’ exhibition, guests and INES community joined they sits and follow speeches and swearing in ceremonies of new INES students committee.

When addressing his speech to the public, The Rector of INES-Ruhengeri, Fr. Dr. Fabien HAGENIMANA welcomed and thanked everyone for their participation. Using the theme of this Career Day which is “Innovation for development” he explained INES approach of Applied Sciences and how this methodology helps to train skilled students who can lead to the community development through innovations.

A problem of mismatch between University products (graduates) and labour market needs in the region pushed INES-Ruhengeri to adopt approach of institute of applied sciences. “To apply this orientation Problem Based Learning and Project Based Learning are the keys approaches we use while teaching in order to increase the quality of education” he added.

“INES is here forever and for the development of the country” said Mr. JMV GATABAZI the Governor of Northern Province when addressing to the audience during Career Day. He encouraged students to work hard and to have vision. He thanked INES founders and its management for the contribution to the development of the country. “INES is doing well” he added

“We want the collaboration between districts of Northern Province and INES-Ruhengeri which is not MoUs but also the actions, projects to develop our region” he said

He concluded his speech by asking students to have good values; unity, love and discipline. 

In his speech, Bishop Vincent HAROLIMANA, Legal Representative and Chancellor of INES-Ruhengeri said that it is necessary to praise the Lord for guiding us and for all we have achieved.

“INES is happy, this year after a period of trouble, we were the first university to fulfill the high education council requirements which lead to the higher quality of education” he said

“INES is progressing well” he said. He thanked INES-Ruhengeri management for the steps achieved; He also mentioned the good collaboration with government of Rwanda. INES-Ruhengeri has achieved more and it has a good plan to achieve even more in the coming years. Teaching, Learning and research at INES-Ruhengeri should be answers to the community problems. With ICT you can reach more, INES have chosen to use technology in its teaching activities. He added

He encouraged students to work hard, “This is the hard working academic year” he said and he thanked all the partners of INES for the contributions they give to INES and to its students. Bishop thanked INES staff and students for the work done.


He concluded with a thankful message to the government of Rwanda for the good collaboration and also thanked all today’s guests and INES community who attended the ceremony.
